European Guarantees of Origin closed mixed once again on April 26, with current-year vintages jumping higher in opposition to a decrease in 2025 prices, amid speculative market conditions.

“Water reservoirs are ok in most countries, but the only ones registering higher levels than other years are in Spain and Portugal,” a trader said regarding lower forward prices, adding, “I really think that these big volumes with low prices are being moved solely by big trading companies.”

Platts assessed Nordic hydro 2024 Eur0.02/MWh higher at Eur1.47/MWh, whereas 2025 reversed the prior day’s upward move, falling by Eur0.03/MWh to close at Eur2.3/MWh.

Meanwhile, prices for vintages 2026 and above remained flat on the day, with 2026 confirmed at Eur2.3/MWh.

UK Renewable Guarantees of Origin current CP prices climbed in line with a higher trade, with stronger bid values reflecting tighter availability.

“Volumes are scarce on CP-22 and CP-23, but there are lots on offer along the curve,” a UK-based trader said.

Platts assessed non-bio CP-23 GBP0.15/MWh higher on the day at GBP8.6/MWh, while CP-24 remained steady at GBP7.7/MWh.
